Three other things: Firstly, it is Violated promoter Hannah’s birthday. I am expecting her to be very drunk. I am worried that she might try to make
me play Meat Loaf.
Secondly, there is also this in the downstairs room :
Thirdly, I will be doing something to commemorate this man:
I haven’t decided what yet, but it will probably involve this, because
it’s fucking awesome.
Go ahead and use me, baby

Well, that was an improvement!
The best bits of the night for me were the crowd’s responses to some of the songs I aired – in a word, it was exceptional. I recall staring
open-mouth at over twenty people headbanging in a circle to ‘Ov Fire and the Void’ by Behemoth, and Amon Amarth’s ‘Cry of the Black Birds’ wasn’t far
behind. My personal highlight, thought, was the reception of Insomnium’s ‘Equivalence/Down With the Sun’. The punters may or may not have been able to
hear my screams of triumph over the music, but suffice to say that I was impressed. The room suddenly seemed to become a solid mass of
flailing hair, and there were people dancing on both stages because the floor was too full for them. That song was probably the musical pinnacle of
2009 for me, so I was exceedingly chuffed to see it going down so well. I’ve put a fair bit of work into Violated, and it’s moments like those where
it all pays off. With interest. Heh.

Aeon, Dio... gah! I just hope everyone heard at least a few songs they thought were awesome, and will come back next month. Here’s hoping…
